Last month's grand opening of Boulangerie Christophe represents years of hard work and imagination on the part of Christophe and his son Benjamin, who co-own and operate this cafe. The pair hail from Saint-Tropez, and are happy to bring the culinary traditions of Southern France to hungry DC locals.
Stop by on your way to work in the morning and you'll find the place buzzing with folks picking up expertly pulled espressos and pastries like the popular Tarte aux Pommes, which is topped with a light Chantilly cream and a sprinkling of cinnamon. Visit during the lunch hour and you'll find the menu brimming with classic French bistro fare, like the hearty salad Nicoise with potatoes, tuna, and eggs sitting atop a bed of greens. You might also choose a slice of house-made quiche. You'll generally find several options to choose from, including the chef's daily special.
